SHISEIDO Holiday FY24 Campaign ft. Mirror
case study
Wanting to tell the story of four men travelling across Japan for their localised 2024 holiday campaign, Shiseido enlists the help of Matte Grey. Asked to propose a creative solution that showcases our talents in snowy, wintery Japan – whilst being shot in-studio at the height of a Hong Kong summer. A rare project that allowed our team to demonstrate the latest in XR stage technology.
Approach
An XR stage was chosen as the product’s glass exterior would have proven problematic in a green screen environment, with the added benefit of augmenting scenery onto background LED panels. Furniture pieces were supplemented in to provide interactive elements for the talents.
For photography, backgrounds that were in our video set were printed for the photography set. These were backlit in order for the street lights and windows in the background to appear lit.
Specific BTS video clips and photos were selected as tiered rewards, relayed through WhatsApp to loyal customers.
